Course description
Aquatic Rescue Safety Officer prepares experienced rescue personnel to perform dedicated safety oversight during aquatic emergency operations.
The course focuses on dynamic risk assessment, operational zones, personnel capability, PPE compliance, upstream and downstream safety, environmental change, equipment hazards, fatigue, thermal stress, emergency withdrawal, and stop-work authority.
Students learn to continuously evaluate the relationship between operational objectives and responder exposure throughout an incident.
The Safety Officer supports command by providing independent safety oversight and helping ensure that rescue operations remain within acceptable operational limits.
