Course description
Protective Equipment Technician – Cold & Contaminated Water focuses on personal protective equipment rather than rescue tactics.
The course prepares responders to correctly select, inspect, wear, operate, and remove protective systems used in cold-water and contaminated-water environments.
Training may include dry suits, isolation suits, dry glove systems, thermal protection, protective footwear, head protection, contamination-control procedures, equipment inspection, buddy checks, emergency procedures, and decontamination.
The objective is to ensure that personnel can maintain appropriate protection when operational conditions require environmental isolation or enhanced thermal protection.
